FIRAS approved passive fire installer

FIRAS is the third-party certification scheme run by warringtonfire for the passive fire protection industry. It covers the installation of fire-stopping, fire doors, fire-rated walls and floors, compartmentation and barriers — the parts of the building that contain a fire long enough for everyone to get out. Gemini AMPM holds FIRAS approval, with each engineer carded individually.

What it covers
  • Fire stopping — sealing penetrations in compartment walls and floors with tested, certificated systems
  • Fire doors — supply, install, inspect and maintain to BS 8214 / BS EN 1634
  • Compartmentation — walls, floors and ceiling voids assembled per the building's fire strategy
  • Cavity barriers — vertical and horizontal barriers in voids and cavities per BS 5839-1 + Approved Document B
  • Photographic records and certified-as-fitted documentation for every penetration — the audit-trail the Building Safety Act now demands
What it means for clients

Why this matters
on a real job.

Post-Grenfell, post-Hackitt and post-Building Safety Act 2022, the golden thread of evidence for passive fire works is now a legal duty for higher-risk buildings. FIRAS-certificated installation gives the responsible person an audit-ready trail — the right product, fitted by an assessed installer, with photographic evidence — at handover and through the building's life. That documentation is what the Building Safety Regulator and insurers actually want to see.
